Every person has the right to determine their own sexuality, reproductive health, and future. That's why Ipas, as part of the broader reproductive justice movement, works to ensure that governments recognize abortion as an essential health service-and that all people have access. During the COVID-19 pandemic, your support helps us train abortion providers, ensure women have the information they need to access abortion, and educate young people on sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Challenge
Abortion is health care, but not everyone has access. Each year, 35 million people around the world resort to having an abortion with unsafe methods. Due to global health inequities, almost all are Black or brown and live in developing countries. Millions of women and girls suffer serious, often permanent, injuries as a result of unsafe abortion, and tens of thousands die. But it doesn't have to be this way.
Long-Term Impact
Women and girls are essential to the well-being of their families and communities. By protecting and expanding abortion access during the pandemic and beyond, Ipas is contributing to long-term global development and stability. Telehealth solutions expand access for women who can't easily visit clinics. And our education programs are helping build a new generation committed to sexual and reproductive rights for all.
